1. Charles Frederick McLEAN

Charles was the oldest of John and Henrietta’s 5 children. In 1904 he is mentioned as having potential to be a great sculler and talks of him coming out as a professional were thrown around but there is no evidence of him following this career.

He married Grace Catherine Weeks on Oct 5^th 1912 and a year later his first child Jack Keith was born. He had two more children Zena Louise (1917) and Betty Grace (1921). He lived mostly in Dulwich Hill and the Marrickville area of Sydney at this time. In 1928 his father John died and he was the informant on the Death Certificate still living in Marrickville. In 1937, he celebrated his 25^th wedding anniversary with Grace as mentioned in a newspaper.

Charles worked for the Tramway Department as a Chargeman.

He died at age 77 in Wynleigh Convalescent (Nursing) Home in Strathfield, NSW. The cause of death is written as Arteriosclerosis and Cerebral thrombosis (Stroke). It appears this may be a family trait as his father and his son both had similar causes of death.
