This is the beginning generation. The generation that came to Australia. As you will read, this is controversial as the McLean namesake denied fathering our ancestor John McLean and though the evidence positions an Alexander McLean as the father, it is only a very strong assumption that the Alexander McLean detailed on this site is the correct one. It is very likely it is him due to where he lived, his other marriage, and a few other factors, however the court records mention nothing other than a name and this is important to note.
For all intents and purposes though, this is the best and most likely record we will all have of our ancestry back to Scotland.
Christina Lamond and Alexander McLean were written on John McLean's Death Certificate as his parents. Newspaper articles about John also mention that his parents were Scottish.
Alexander McLean and Christina Lamond both arrived in Australia from Scotland with their families. Their stories are individually described on their individual pages.
